At Sengoku Photo Studio SAMURAI, we are pleased to offer a unique experience for couples that blends the strength of samurai armor with the elegance of traditional Japanese attire.
After your photo session in authentic samurai armor, we offer a complimentary option for your partner to wear a luxurious uchikake—a beautifully embroidered over-kimono traditionally worn by noblewomen and brides. We will photograph you together in armor and also take an individual portrait of your partner in the uchikake.
You will receive both a high-quality portrait of the two of you and a solo portrait of your partner. Our staff will select cinematic backgrounds to enhance each image. High-resolution digital data and printed photos are both included.
If you would like to try the UCHIKAKE style, please let us know on the day of your visit.
If you would like to include the uchikake photo, simply let us know when you arrive. The uchikake is worn over regular clothing, so there is no need to change outfits.

What is an UCHIKAKE ?
The uchikake is a formal outer kimono that originated in the late Muromachi period (16th century). Worn by women of the samurai class and the aristocracy, it was draped over a kimono with the hem trailing on the ground. The uchikake itself is not fastened with a sash or obi. In the modern era, it has evolved into a traditional bridal garment used in weddings.
