At Sengoku Photo Studio SAMURAI, we offer couples a special experience that combines the strength of samurai armor with the elegance of traditional Japanese attire.
After your photo session in authentic samurai armor, your partner can enjoy wearing a beautiful Uchikake, a traditional Japanese over-kimono, at no additional charge.
Uchikake are often decorated with beautiful embroidery. They were traditionally worn by women of the samurai class and aristocracy, and today they are also worn as traditional bridal attire in Japanese weddings.
We will photograph the two of you together—one wearing samurai armor and the other wearing an Uchikake—as well as take an individual portrait of your partner in the Uchikake.
For each photo, our staff will select a cinematic background and create a special composite image.
The finished composite photos will be provided as both high-resolution digital files and printed photos.
Please note: The Uchikake experience is not available with the SAMURAI Plan.
If you would like to try the Uchikake experience, simply let our staff know on the day of your visit.
The Uchikake is simply worn over your regular clothes, so there is no need to change into another outfit.

What is an UCHIKAKE ?
An Uchikake is a traditional Japanese formal outer kimono that dates back to the late Muromachi period (16th century).
It was worn by women of the samurai class and aristocracy over a kimono, with its long hem trailing along the ground.
Unlike a regular kimono, the Uchikake itself is not fastened with an obi (sash).
Today, Uchikake are best known as traditional bridal attire worn at Japanese weddings.
